He does mention that it comes with one in the full review. Based on that I don't know why in the world he chose to list it as a con on the front page.

EDIT: I just sent an email to CNET Reviews about it. We'll see if/how they respond.

Did anyone see the 9.2 average user rating it has so far? I tend to look at those numbers instead of the "editor's rating"...

After reading all the comments on this forum, I find it funny that one of their "favorite things about the VAIO SZ is the keyboard".

And the battery life.. they say: "The VAIO SZ also delivered 5.6 hours of battery life"

hah.. i think i squeezed just over 3 hours

This thing has its faults but its easily the bestg in its class. Even with its battery life problems. The hybrid gpu system alone is worth the purchase of the sz.

I concur. This laptop is rivaled by no other. I would dub it "invincible" if it were Merom compatible. (0r maybe it will be?) Sorry, ProphetX, I know, in the end, you're probably right, but I hope you're dead wrong when you say Merom won't be compatible with Centrino systems. *crosses fingers

[because you know, by some stoke of luck or SOMETHING intel might shock us and say, "ta-da!"...Merom is compatible with all!!"

I too look at the user reviews instead of the CNET review.

That and, uh.... CNET reviews suck.

They're usually not accurate, and the final score most likely comes from how much the manufacturer paid for the review.

In this case, I guess Sony didnt pay them :)

Doesn't the hybrid graphics only give you half an hour extra... A still mediocre battery life compared to the initial speculation that this sucker could last over 6 hours?

how many other notebooks with similar specs CAN do 6 hours? Thats real question.

True. But, in my opinion, for this to be a truly superior notebook it really should have a better battery life. If it could indeed achieve anything remotely close to what was stated, the premium price a person spends would truly be justified. I would think 4 hours should be sufficient. It is aimed at business users, you know?

Well i get 4 hours easy with my SZ. Thing is you gotta know how to use the Vaio power managment.

Let me ask you a question... If the SZ is such a bad notebook. Which notebook do you think is better? Its kinda hard to make an arguement in the SZ's favor. Especially when theres no other notebook to compare. The Asus W3j gets about the same amount of battery life (in speed mode) and is lacking in features when compared to the SZ.

One complain i do have with the SZ is the **** battery gets hot. But thats only when its plugged up. And thats 85% of the time im on it.

All notebook manufacturers overstate their battery life.

They will always advertise the maximum specs to make it sounds as good as possible.

And yes, its true abou the ASUS W3J... it has the same battery life as the SZ and its the only machine that is comparable in any way.
