So I just ordered a new SZ270 P/C and I was hoping to get a list of things I should do to it after I get it.

I want to get rid of all that pointless bloatware that they put on the system, but I don't want to ruin my system in the process doing something quite hard.

I want to get a privacy filter for the screen, can anyone recommend one?

I ordered a screen protector for the keyboard so that should stop any scratches.

I don't have a Windows XP Pro disc so I am not sure what I can do.

Can someone explain partitions to me as well as I don't know if I need them in my system or not.

    Thanks a lot.

    Why did you order a 270? o_O ...

Anyway, what I did was Uninstall using Add/Remove Programs, delete cooresponding directories, do system searches using program keywords, clean the registry, and defrag the disk after everything was done.

Google. A filter would be good to protect the screen from scratches.

There are clean-install/semi-restore guides in this forum. Check them out.

I think people recommend getting a lower (cheaper) variant and add the RAM yourself to save money.

I wanted the lighter premium edition.

It only comes with 1GB of RAM.

oh i would have gotten the 260. It's the same thing but without the annoying antenna. Mine was 1999.99 from fry's. I talked to a rep from a sony store and he said the lower models have a slot for the edge chip too hidden in the back of the battery compartment.

I wanted to believe the edge was free but when I took my battery off of my SZ260 I couldn't find the slot. Maybe the guy at Sony was a saleman or something :)

maybe it was just the models that had the antenna then. He opened up the store model which I believe was the 270 and there was a slot. He said it was in all models. He's my neighbor so Im going to check again tomorrow
