Hi everyone,
I've been a lurker for a while now and I just received my new VGN-FW390 today. I tried to create the recovery discs and the drive will simply not recognize any DVD+Rs. I've tried the built in Windows DVD Maker and Click to Disc. I just got the computer today and I'm trying to get a clean version of Vista installed so I can get rid of these apps and install my own but I can't even get the recovery discs created.
The drive I have is the Pioneer BD-RW BDR-TD01.
I've played Blu-ray movies and DVDs just fine but it won't see any blank DVD+Rs. I just bought a pack of 25 TDK DVD+R 1-16x spped 4.7GB discs and none of them work.
I've tried to uninstall the device and restarted so windows would reinstall it and I'm still having the problem.
Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

hi ludeatic007,
Yes, I had exactly the same problem with my new VGN-AW21XY.
I bought the DVD+R's (single layer 4.7GB) especially to create the recovery discs and they were even Sony's own brand.
I ended up by successfully using Verbatum DVD+R's (double layer 8.5GB).
New Sony VAIO FW, can't write blank DVD+R
