    I hope it will have a higher-res screen than 1024x768. I'm hoping for 1280x960 or 1400x1050.

Isn't this the laptop I mentioned that is to be shown on the 20th? the "R" mode model? will have to check the fcc docs to see if it is the same one.

It looks very similar to the G1 and G2 series, like the one in my sig.

Hmm perhaps they intend to revive their G series (12" range)...

Like how to C went on to CR and now the CS.

ok went browsing the fcc, and the images are on there, external images that is, and a ruler so it is easy to check the size, roughly.

the adapter is a 16V one, the device is not 12 inches wide, it is more like 11.4or 27-28 cm. length appears to be 21.5 cm. the battery itself seems to be 21 cm wide.

intel 5100 wireless card, 2 GB of ram. a sony NEC optiarc drive.

oh, the manual works lol. fingerprint sensor. some models seem to come with a built in optical drive or without one.

One USB port, modem port and monitor port on the right, 2 USB on the left, DC IN, ethernet port, and pc card. By the look of the manual, blu ray will seem to be an option on it, but no hdmi out.

huh, apparently, the laptop has a liquid resistant structure on the keyboard and keypad as not to allow liquid to go into the body of the laptop when you spill something, in addition there is a drain hole in the battery area so drain out any liquid inside. I am not sure if this is common to all vaios, my guess no?

there is also the AK8PCG4R1L model, or the R model I previously saw and images and info are unblocked on tuesday.

I don't know much about the G series, but this new GS appears to be a business model.

Yup, that looks right. Though they get some extra case colors over there.

256GB SSD, 13hour battery, liquids and drop-damage resistant. Interesting. Seems tough and understated. I like it! So, it has a 12.1inch 1024x768 LED display?

I think the TT is somewhat more attractive *(e.g. has a 8-bit screen with higher resolution). Having said that, it's hard to tell what this looks like in real life.

Interesting this new series. Although is exactly the same of the G series, I don't see any difference. The ratio is 4:3? The battery life if arrived at 10 hrs I'm impressed! No HDMI though... :(

EDIT: Ok, it was weird! Is not a new series, is just a refresh of the old G series. Sony just added the Centrino 2 platform in this.

It's going to be mainly targeted to the business market here in the States, but it's definitely an update to the G series finally reaching our shores, and matching up a bit with the same design feel of the BZ series.

It's not just a refresh, it has a different chassis. Compare the akihabaranews photo to this one of the old G

The chassis is different, but it's very minor though. Mainly on the layout of the ports and the area below the keyboard (now that part is raised).

BTW, just realized this is "G5" series instead of "GS", so maybe someone can change the title. :D

Arguably the biggest change is it can now go up to 4GB of memory. 2GB on both my G1 and G1 are kinda limiting. Nice to see Sony overcame that limitation.

Also some internal changes - note you get either a 2.5 or 1.8 inch drive, and the RAIDed SSDs can be in there.

GS is gonna be a US model, in Japan it is marketed as G5 (though they do skip 4 all the time in their models, same thing happened with TR series: TR3AP, TR5AP, there was no TR4)
