I'm not sure if anybody noticed, but Sony almost silently released new E type - EA.

It got 14" screen with LED backlight and 1600x900 resolution, i3-330M Processor, ATI HD 5145 Graphic card, 4GB RAM and colorful combination like EB.

Check UK Sonystyle for more info.

Yes, now all models are out - the ones I predicted in January ;)

and price for EA is pretty low too, under 900€, which makes it a great buy

One thing I noticed with the new EB serie, screen is matte, not x-black which makes it kinda poor vs x-blacks, I hope not all Ex models will have such a poor screen

Matte? The screen is glossy and poor, but similar to the low res F. Probably new Sony's trend  I didn't see the FullHD version of EB in person yet though, it said to be better than the low res one.

That is glossy? Horrible quality then, F11M model is much better.

but I guess, you get what you pay for...

Wonder how this will perform next to the CW series? From my understanding the 5145 GPU is just a slightly faster 4650? Does that mean that it will perform very similar to the currently CW? What is the point of the EA I wonder?

    The point is...

    - new tech stuff into "CW" models
    - new name (god knows why sony started with E and put 15.5" 17.3" and 14.")
    - lower price

According to EBs current selling numbers Sony really nailed it this time and I am sure EB and EA will do similar

You are confusing the 4650 with the 4570. The 5145 is a faster 4570.

Seems like new EA looks more like EC and EB, other that that there is not much difference.

CW and EA were never meant to be a gaming machines, so no need for fast GPU. For gamers, there is always F serie.

EA seems like a fine machine and quite cheap compare to CW

Yes, but CW2 is so cheap because its EOL and stock needs to be sold.

I believe CW was around 800 when it first came out

Yes, but on sony page all them come under serie E, maybe it mens Entrance models (EA, EB and EC), it does not make sense why would they confuse customers with same first letter.

Hmmm... the thing that irks me is you can add a BluRay Burner for only $80 on the E series on the Sony Style site. That puts it ahead of the CW27FX Best Buy sells for the same price with a BluRay player (otherwise same config) and almost what I paid (after tax) for my CW26FX with a cd/dvd drive.

Since current EA models just came out, i doubt there will be new models soon.

probably in 3 months, or maybe before the world cup, or right after summer.

I'm interested in some reviews on this laptop as well (I saw the cnet one also). Looking for a small portable Photoshop/Gaming laptop I can hook up to my HDTV via HDMI.

    Eyeing these options:

    Intel® Core™ i3-370M processor
    4GB (2GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1066
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 GPU

    Thoughts?
