Uhhh...It's NOT about the Megahertz wars, dude. It's all about other improvements, i.e. the amount of L2 cache, the smaller size of the processor that yields less heat plus other little things that make the newer generation of processors faster than the older ones at the same speed. Please google Moore's Law if you need to understand this concept.

If you are so close to a new CPU launch, it makes very little sense to buy a laptop now. The only exception to this, currently, is the TZ which is a unique laptop that uses the ULV variant of the Merom CPU that won't be replaced for at least six months so the risk-averse can invest in their TZs without losing sleep over them. This is especially true if you get the topend TZ198 or some such unit.

do you think that these new penryn models will lower the price of other FZ's with the T7000 chips in them?

I see no reason why the prices will change. They may even go down. At launch, they will probably be high but not higher than the older models at their undiscounted prices, of course.

When the 600 SZ series was released, I believe the SZ400 were actually higher priced(At least I'm sure the 450 vs the 650 was). Same with the release of the 400 series, the 300 series a bit more supposedly because it came with XP versus Vista.
