goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
Holy Seriously!??! Its Not Loading!!!!!!!!!!!!

Works fine for me.
$2000 for base (as beaups said) and $4700 for signature collection series. -
And Beaups is proven correct yet again....

I am on chat right now asking about when CTO will be available

Richard G: Honestly you're looking at the presents before they are being released. The new Z isn't supposed to be on our website for another couple hours
Richard G: However the CTO seems to be on here with an estimated shipping date of the 29th
Richard G: So you might be the first person to order it in the US -
-
Maximum Power.
Maximum Speed.
Maximum Money. -
It's their special configs only certain dealers and sonystyle get.

13.1" Ultra-Portable Custom Laptop | VAIO Z Series Configure-to-Order | VPCZ2190X CTO | Sony USA
Just priced out my configuration: $3300 w/ 3 year+AD and PMD
Shame you can't get it without PMD....but happy to see the Fresh Start option in there. -
Configs I won't get by maxing out all the specs on a CTO model?
-
Not necessarily. Sometimes it's just a different color is offered, or transferjet (on the old F's), etc.
-
goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
No, you can still get them in CTO. -
Mine comes out to $3170.
-
goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
2969 right here
Where is the premium carbon option?!?!
Theres no options for 3rd/2nd gen SSD. Are they all 3rd gen then? -
you: Are the SSDs 2nd or 3rd generation?
Richard G: As far as I am aware, and judging by the price, 3rd generation -
The VAIO F Sig. Collection seems to have the some maxed out parts like RAM, CPU, possibly HDD.
I know some of the first VAIO signature collections had some... unique designs. -
goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
All drives are Raid 0 apparently too
way to screw tings up uk.... -
i thought it had already been established that the Z was continuing on with Raid-0?
-
hum.... $150 extra for 100Mhz... or am i missing something here?
-
and 1MB L3 cache....
does backlit keypad come as standard? I don't see there's an option to choose? Also only carbon black, no premium carbon lid finish? -
As far as memory goes...
If you order 4GB or 6GB, the first 2GB are fixed. Then the open slot would have either 2GB or 4GB.
The only way you can have 8GB of total memory is if you order all 8GB to begin with (that's the only way the fixed memory is 4GB). -
sorry for the noob question but can someone explain the frest start...is that just a fresh install of windows without all the extra crap added?
-
nope, Sony has mouths to feed! how do you expect them to accomplish that without the help of tech addicts that must check the fastest option on each selection??
it KILLS me that I didn't select the i7 on my Z11. Have I ever been in a situation where I found my CPU anywhere near lacking in any respect? Absolutely not! So why does it kill me? BECAUSE IT's NOT AN i7!! lol
-
Richard G: The backlit keyboard is standard
-
goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
I think its fixed onboard no matter what. No open slots whatsoever -
goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
Yes none of there ty vaio gate or photo software, or trial software etc. The essential vaio programs are still included, like vaio care -
haha, so stupid, but so damn true! same here
-
Not according to the rep I am speaking with.
But as we all know, they're not always correct. -
Did the price just drop?
nvm...I'm in the education store now -
No. At least not on Sony USA. Or at least not on my end.
-
Link to the Z2 in the education store, please?
-
Z2 is available for 5% student discount.
-
goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
Sweet! Thats $150!
-
Yea I was hoping for 10...better than nothing I suppose
-
There's no mention on the CTO page of support for LTE. Why not?
-
I always get 10% even 15% from sony style, you just have to pester them
They will work with you if I means selling a $3K+ machine
O yea... I am not a student, I am a hustler -
CTO upgrade prices:
$100 for 1080p screen,
Can't remove PMD,
$100 for bluray player,
$200 for 8GB ram,
$200 for sheet battery,
$149 for sheet battery(in accessories section)
Only two colors - carbon black and whatever carbon indigo is. Where's gold?!
So freakin expensive! It's $2400 for a basic i5 with 8gb ram, 1080p screen, and sheet battery. I hope these pricing are incorrect.
I was expecting around $1700 for 8gb ram, 1080p screen, without the pmd, and in gold color. -
CC: Does that include CTO machines? I priced out the Z at $4500. 10% savings would be nice.
-
Hmm, now the Sony USA site says the Z2 is starting at $1969.99 for the base and $4,464.99 for the Signature Collection.
-
We are paying way more here in Europe -.-
-
Sorry, the Sony Forum hustler quota is full. Beat to the punch

Computercowboy, does that actually work? Can you further explain how you do that?
Can someone ask where the premium carbon and the gold color options are? How do i get back in that chat window?
Ok wait why is adding the sheet battery in CTO $200 but adding it in acessories is $150....Its the same sheet battery right? -
It was that way with the SA, too.
-
If there's no Gold option, I'm going to have an aneurysm.
Gold Z2 is one of the sexiest pieces of tech I've ever seen.
Anyone know anything? -
goldentreesang Notebook Evangelist
It was the same sheet battery? So i might as well order it seperate no? -
What's the difference between the cheapest pre-configured model ($2000) and the cheapest CTO model ($1970) besides the $30 difference? Does the CTO lack something that's worth $30?
If these prices are real and I can't get rid of the dock, I might just have to go with the most basic configuration. I really wanted the 8GB since it's not user upgradable, and 1080p screen since no other laptops offer such high resolution.
Would we be able to see these in sony store near end of July? I want to see how the well the sheet battery attaches, and also the quality of material. I didn't like SB series build quality when I saw one in store.
