    Hi,

I just got a new Sony Z with 256GB of SSD. Now, Windows 7 doesn't recognize the drives as SSD, because the Defragment options are available. Windows should have known that there is a SSD drive installed and disabled Defragment. (I have another laptop with Intel X25 and this is the case)

I'm concerned that something is wrong with my drive and this is why Windows 7 doesn't see the drives as SSD.

    Seconded.

This isn't a problem. None of my SSD drives have caused the defrag service to be disabled. It should be set to manual.

The defrag service is used by Storage Management to shrink volumes. Leave it at defaults.

The service may be fine but there is a weekly defrag scheduled by default. you need to disable this. it's an oversight by sony IMO.

My guess is since the drives are in raid mode, windows isn't seeing the ssd's as ssd's for some reason.
