    Hello everybody,
already the topic of debate, Sony's new keyboard has overal attreacted a lot of positive comments.

Now, I disliked the looks of the new keyboard ever since I saw it and, when in a shop selling laptops, I tried it and found that I still dislike it.
In comparison I have to say I love the SZ's keyboard,

So if you want to, participate in this little poll, I would find it interesting to see your opinions.

All the best and thank you,
    Detlev

I must say I like the look of the keyboard and I think it really prevents mistakes because you actually share the space around each key with its neighbors, so more space...

I would have loved it when sony made the keyboard illuminated =)

I think that they don't look bad but for me i prefer standard keyboards because i find them easier and more comfortable to type on.

I preferred the MacBook Pro keyboard to the MB also for this reason.

I voted for the fourth option.

I prefer the new keyboards over the older type found on the SZ. I found the keys too crowded and they didn't give much feedback. The new keyboard feels much better.

The new keyboards look weird to me... but I'm sure I'll get used to them.

If I could remap the keys, I would remap [ and ] with pgup/pgdn... any potentially useless keys that I could swap? \ is a candidate too. Otherwise, the keyboard's not too bad.

I don't like the old or the new keyboard.
Old keyboard- loud to type on, flex
    New keyboard- too spread out

I love the new keyboards! I'm stuck with the SZ keyboard in the meantime and it's horrible. (too loud, keys too flexible, depth of keys too shallow)

I personally think that this sort of question is kinda hard to answer because it is a very subjective question. Different people have different preference & so what works well for me may not work well for you & vice versa. I'll highly suggest trying them out if possible to see/feel how you like the keyboards.

I totally agree with SPEEDwithJJ...it is such a subjective question and there would never be a true consensus on any notebook computer or it's keyboard. From the looks of the keyboard I like what I see. But like suggested, I sure would try it out first and get firsthand knowledge instead of guessing what it is like.

Is the newer style keyboard any more quiet?

I love the look, personally. It seems clean and modern to me.

Of course it is to some extent a subjective question.
The same goes for the opinion on the SZ's keyboard, I love it, others hate it.

But that's why it is a poll, this enables one to see an overall opinion, whether the majority likes, dislikes, etcetera it. Of course judging just by looking isn't ideal, but if you find that you cant live with this layout (and there was a thread on a little phenomena associated with these grids) then you can also vote that you dislike it right away woithout trying ot out first.

As with many things, there is no perfect keyboard, same as there is no perfect laptop, because different people have different opinions.
