I just got a VAIO PRO 11 today and noticed that there isn't a serial number sticker at the back. Why is that, and how am I to install Windows 8 anew, if I formatted the SSD, or the old one died?

Windows 8 machines don't use serial #'s on the COA any longer. Its in the bios.

    I see!
What if I want to put a new SSD in but my recovery DVDs don't work? Can i use my normal Win 8 install DVDs?

Yes you can, even if you change the ssd. you just need to have install the same Win 8 version as in your original one, else it will ask for a serial. From my experience, the language pasck in the dvd doesn't matter, just the version core or pro.
