My first post, and thanks for your time everyone.

I just purchased this laptop online at Sony Style yesterday and I have a few questions I hoped this community could help with. The very sad thing is when I purchased my laptop the other day, it had just gone on backorder! Regardless, the shipping estimate was the same as the day before when it was not on back order -- does this mean that the back order status will not effect my purchase/receiving date?

I used a newly opened Sony Card in order to receive the 12 month financing and no interest, however I have not been contacted by Chase OR Sony about my card -- am I to assume that it will work like a standard credit card and just give me minimum payments with no interest as a default?

Also, it's slightly late into the purchase, but I was curious about the SR's LCD hinge, and whether or not there was a loosening or wobble when users opened and closed the screen often. The laptop has no latch for the screen, and that bothers me as to the quality of the hinge. It's a new laptop, so I suppose there won't be too much info on this yet.

    Thanks in advance!

Did you order a custom build or pre-configured? My custom build said it would ship 10 days later, actually shipped in 3 days.
I did the same thing and haven't been contacted either; am assuming I'll get something in the mail reasonably soon. And the no interest thing can trip people up; it's no interest ONLY for 12 months, AND if you make at least the minimum payment each month. Pay late or don't pay, and you're instantly jumped to full, retroactive interest. Also, if you haven't paid the laptop off completely in 12 months, you'll be charged the full interest for the initial 12 months, which could be quite a lot. I'm planning to pay it off in 9 or 10 months to give myself a little window.

I doubt it...most laptops these days don't have a latch, and I haven't seen any posts about hinge problems for Sony laptops. I suppose if you open and close it every 10 minutes, it could add up, but....

    1. I ordered a CTO build on Back order. As of now when I check my order it still says 'Temporarily out of stock', but the estimated shipping date remains the same as a few days ago (when the item was in stock).

    2. Thankfully I did know it was no interest for only 12 months -- as a student this was the only way I could afford the laptop. The interest will accrue however it won't affect you until after the 12 months (in which all the interest will hit you as if you had not done the deal). I plan on paying the laptop off in about 8-9 months.

    3. I've had one bad experience with an overpriced Toshiba Laptop (A Satellite A35-S159: Trash, I know. I was dumb then). The hinge was such crap that it would wobble every time i picked it up, and shake all over the place when I moved. I have since been spoiled by my Thinkpad T41p, in which the hinge is metal and NEVER losens. Build quality is massively important to me.

    Thanks for your help Dagatech!
