I don't see anyone having any info posted here yet on this new unit on Sony's site.

I'm trying to find out what the maximum supported EXTERNAL resolution is on a monitor. I've searched Sony's site including all the of the manuals for this unit and it doesn't say. I even went on their tech support chat and asked them but they were CLUELESS (imagine that...). They tried telling me that the max resolution supported on an external monitor was the same as the screen itself... 1366x768. In fact they insisted that was the case when I told them they had to be wrong.

Anyone know or have any other ideas on how to find out?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the info.

Ugh... I'm hoping they are doing the same dumb thing that other manufacturers are (not listing the real supported higher resolutions) and it will support 1900x1200.

I would think with the Intel GMA950 chip in it, it *should* be able to do it (but some manufacturers like Fujitsu actually prevent you from loading drivers to get the higher resolutions for some reason - like my P7120...).

I'm also interested in the TXN25, however, I'm confused as the website states the WAN is Sprint boradband, but there is a user guide in the manual area on the website for the TXN25 that discusses removing the Cingular SIM card. I would like the WAN to be Cingular as that is my current provider. If the TXN25 is Sprint, can you use a Cingular SIM card instead? Thanks.

No, you cannot use a Cingular SIM in the TXN's Sprint modem. Besides, Sprint does not take SIM card.

I would not suggest anyone use the Cingular Edge Service with a Vaio product. It simply does NOT work!!! I purchased a Vaio VGN-UX280P activated the Cingular service with it and was never able to get it to work. It would connect for a bit and then stall, have to reboot and start all over to re-connect. I went back and forth with Sony and Cingular, of course each blamed the other. Sent it in for repair twice, re-formatted countless times, changed SIM Cards, you name it I did it nothing worked!!! I contacted Sony HQ in New Jersey and now they are going to buy back my Vaio as well as all the accessories for it and pay to release me from my Cingular Contract. I think I am going to purchase the SZ470, although it has a Cingular Edge Modem built in, I will be using a Sprint Card!!!

Kowing that Cingular never worked, are you still going to buy the SZ with WWAN option? You can save $100 without it.
