Interesting... where do you see that it says DVD RAM and BD ROM? Also, can you tell us what's the part number and model number of the drive?

Not sure about the "OTSPIXK YR4DUBOHI SCSI CDROM DEVICE". BTW the blu-ray version of the Z has a blu-ray burner, not reader.

Did you install a virtual drive software? Like Alcohol 120%/Virtual CloneDrive/Daemon Tools?

yes installed Daemon Tools Lite but i have it set to not load on startup and it isn't running in the background

is that what is messing up my attempts to create a recovery disc from VAIO CARE?

It doesn't have to be running in the background for the Virtual Drive to be active.

You should start it, then set the number of virtual drives to 0, and your Blu-ray drive will disappear.

yup worked like a charm it was Daemon Tools

also it was interfering with VAIO CARE to create recovery discs... remove DAEMON or set virtual drive to 0

    Isn't the answer pretty obvious?

Try setting 0 drives first, if it still doesn't work, then remove.

VirtualCD is much better behaved than Daemon Tools. It's not free, though.

I've been using Alchohol 52% too, and it's been working fine for me this entire time.

    It's free :)
