Hi everyone.
I searched throughout huge threads dedicated to new Vaio Z (and read more than half of them) but couldn't find any useful information about 1920x1080 screen. I saw 1600x900 model in store and wasn't impressed at all (TN simply can't get better than average IMO)
Is there any information about panel manufacturer/type? Does anybody have proper pics showing its viewing angles (comparison with 1600 model will be even better)?
P.S. Don't post about resolution/DPI scaling/small fonts, this thread is devoted to panels' quality only.

From what i heard the 1080p screen is brighter, but i thought also better quality overall (something with color gamut). Viewing angles are a little better, but not really too special.

there are rumors I've picked up from non english sites saying the 1080p screen is RGBLED which means it will have 95%-100% color gamut. CCFL are typically 40-45% normal LED is 75% or so and Dual CCFL can sometimes hit 75% as well.
If indeed the 1080p screen is RGBLED that would make it well worth it.
Types of screens
CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)
2CCFL (Dual Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)
WLED (White Light Emitting Diode)
RGBLED (Red, Green, Blue Light Emitting Diode) -
I read on the giant Z11 owners thread the (unconfirmed) report that there may be different versions of the screen for US and Europe and Asia... although these reports may be based on the fact that SonyStyle US is not giving all the info.
Anyway, Sony UK and Sony PT explicitly mention that the 1920x1080 screen covers 95% of the Adobe RGB color gamut! (which is funny... I could swear that a couple of days ago they had 96%) -

You would be right: http://209.85.129.132/search?q=cach...ries+sony+vaio+z+96%&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=se. It said: "Choose Full HD with 1920x1080 resolution (*) and enjoy high definition Blu-ray movies wherever you go. Bring images to life with up to 96% Adobe RGB colours the standard used by professional photographers for exceptional realism."
So sure enough, they changed it

Thanks, I feel less insane now -
Someone at russian forum told me that 1920x1080 panel is TN because of limited vertical viewing angles. But he said that Z's screen is best TN panel and colors are comparable to famous Nec 2690WUXi.
New Z: 1600 vs. 1920 (quality, viewing angles etc.)
