    Just found out that there is a new bios on Sony Z1 drivers page. Is it hackable?
    New Bios R3031C3 release date 21-Oct-20111. (The old one was R3030C3)

    Fixes;
    This utility updates the BIOS to version R3031C3 to resolve the following issues:
    The computer does not prompt for the BIOS password when resuming from hibernation mode
    The computer does not prompt for the BIOS password during start-up
    The WiMAX® device is displayed as an "Unknown Device" within Device Manager after the system resumes from hibernation
    A white line appears on the LCD during start-up

    What I noticed is the bootup speed is greatly improved. If you boot with the NoGuiBoot option enabled in msconfig your boot might be over 5 seconds faster. Worth updating if you didn't use the advanced functions!

    hmmmm my Vaio Update utility must be broken/sleepy... it still doesn't want to auto-spam me a new BIOS. Also no joy no matter how many times I hit that "Check for Updates" button there in the utility. It must be trying to tell me I don't need to update anything! :) Or maybe I should manually download/install it to crash my laptop ha ha :)

    All Z1's have the exact same BIOS.
    VAIO : Sony Europe

    Just use that link, should be just fine.

    hey guys thanks!! I got the new BIOS installed. I updated the Vaio Update and the first screen there said there's a new "Remote Play with Playstation 3 Update". I was going... hmm... a PS3 software huh?!! :) Then I clicked over to the next button ("New Software") and there the new BIOS is!!! Then I installed it and after it was all done, clicked the button on the message to shut down. So it shut down nicely and then i looked at the blank screen for like 20 or 30 seconds thinking uh oh this laptop got bricked!! It's a blank screen!! The new BIOS killed it!! Then i remembered it said shut down not restart ha ha. :) Hit the power button and it magically works again. Bye.
