Has anyone here tried pairing their new Z1190 with an iPhone? So far all my attempts have been unsuccessful. Generally it looks like that:
    1) Setting BT to "ON" on both the Z and the iPhone
    2) Selecting "Add a Bluetooth device" in the Control Panel
    3) The iPhone shows up on the list and I click "Next"
    4) The phone displays a pop-up with the passcode -> I select "Pair"
    5) The laptop shows the same code and I click OK
    6) A pop-up shows up about configuring a new device
    7) The dialog confirms that the device has been successfully added
    8) Simultaneously I get a pop-up that the device driver was not successfully installed - the list looks like that:
    - BT peripheral device - No driver found
    - BT AV Remote Control Target, BT AV Source, BT Sync - Ready to use
    9) From now on whenever I try to connect to the phone I get a pop-up saying "Error establishing connection"
    10) On the phone, all that time the computer is listed as "Not connected"

On top of that I previously tried pairing the same iPhone with a Vaio CS and there were no problems. Did anyone come across this kind of behavior? What could be the problem here? Thanks for any feedback.

I haven't specifically had this problem with the new Z...but with other PC's. The no driver found device is some sort of unused apple placeholder service...I googled the hardware ID and that's what the consensus was.

What are you trying to "connect"? Internet tethering? A2DP audio? or?

Actually, I just wanted to establish a connection between the phone and the laptop. The tethering on the iPhone was off at that time.

But what type of connection/service? the only connection to pc I believe that iphone supports without any hacks is if your pc is set to RECEIVE a2dp audio.

I don't really get to choose the service yet. All I'm doing is trying to pair the phone with the laptop, but for some reason this is never successful. The phone and the carrier support tethering (I'm in Canada), but at the time of pairing I keep it turned off. I don't think it matters at the point of establishing the connection what service I am planning to use. From what I know the iPhone will only support either tethering or A2DP audio, but that becomes known to the laptop after the connection is established, doesn't it?

Maybe not. Try enabling tethering first.

Same result. "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" reports no driver and no connection can be established between the phone and the computer. Additionally, when I try to troubleshoot the problem (right click->troubleshoot) the result is that "Bluetooth Peripheral Device doesn't have a driver" and the problem remains not fixed.

This is going to sound really stupid but how do I turn on Bluetooth, The option isn't a function key on the keyboard, its not in the system tray and i can't find it anywhere.
    Help!

There is a "green fan" icon in the system tray, click on it and it opens the SmartWi Connection Utility. There you'll find a toggle for the Bluetooth.

Btw, does anyone have an idea what can be causing the problem described in the original post? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

There's a chance it could be the iPhone. It's not the most Bluetooth friendly device out there, surprisingly.

Try to do something with BT on any other device (like some BT headset or whatever).

I'll probably give it a try. It's strange though, because I was able to connect my iPhone to a VAIO CS without any problems.

The Iphone only supports A2DP. This means listen and pause only on a bletooth headset. There is an app called bluetooth helper at the app store that has the AVRCP for a couple of bucks. This will allow use of a headsets forwared and reverse track buttons only. If you are willing to jailbreak your devise there is another app available that will in the near future allow full bluetooth function.
The Iphone has the hardware but is crippled by design. Buyer beware.

It also supports tethering and that's what I wanted to use. The problem I'm having is that I managed to connect my iPhone and use it with a VAIO CS Series, but I cannot make it work with my new Z. I'm pretty sure it's not the phone's fault here.

    Different topic than the OP's:

Does anyone have an estimate of the impact of having bluetooth enabled/active on battery life?

I'm looking for a rough guess -- e.g., something like "30 minutes less if you're getting 4-5 hours battery life" -- not a request for test data -- just anyones' rough estimates. Thanks.

Jailbrake the darn thing and there is an app that will give it full bluetooth function so you can do file transfer and what ever else you need to do with your comp. There are some nice cases with built in extended batteries for the Iphone. I use a bluetooth connection between my Sony laptop and my Palm TX to transfer files and listen to radio. I was getting around 9 hours of music listening wired headphones and screen shut down on my devise. When I use bluetooth stereo headset same setup it is less than 6 hours. So I keep a battery backup or emergency charger as some call it.
