What exact issues are you seeing? run 11.0.2 64bit and I think OpenGL is working fine.

SirRobin, you are awesome! I wasn't gonna upgrade the GPU driver since I didn't have any issues. But yesterday, I bought the Adobe Elements 10 package (both photoshop and Premiere - I need to improve my YouTube videos!)

With the PMD attached, I could not run Adobe Premiere. It would open, but as soon as I picked "New Project", there would be a Windows error and Adobe Premiere would shut down. It worked fine without the PMD though, although I could not maximize the screen on my external monitor hooked directly to my laptop through the HDMI port.

So today, I just installed this new GPU driver and it fixed my problem!!! Premiere opens and works perfectly now with the PMD.

Thanks for your hard work and persistence.

i installed driver using instructions from first post. All working fine.

i then updated windows performance index finsing that the computer cannot run aero. and returns a subscore of 1.0.

gaming graphics increased to 6.8 from 6.3.

anyone else have a similar problem?

    *** restarted a few times ***
all good now. going to try a game to see how she runs

I upgraded the drivers instantly on the Z2 so never got to test old drivers but performance on games is quite good (SC2, Skyrim) in my opinion.

    Testing photoshop today.

What are your skyrim settings on your z? Are you playing on 1600 x 900 or higher resolution?

As long as you turn AA off, you can pretty much run everything on Ultra at 1600x900. AA completely destroys the framerate for me.

    Didn't note my Skyrim performance.

SC2 I was running at 1680x1050 on medium and was getting 80fps in a 4 player game.

Cherrybombaz, Dariusnaz - is this performance with the dock, or on the intel chip itself?

Just for kicks, here is how my Windows Experience index changed after installing this new driver:

Graphics improved from 5.3 to 5.4
Gaming Graphics improved from 6.2 to 6.3

Of course, these are with the PMD attached.

Is the video card any good? I was told that it isn't nearly as good as an internal card and has bandwidth issues. Is that the case?

I would for sure not recommend any $ony product with custom hardware that does not allow driver updates from the original manufacturers.

    OK, here's why I ask:

I was at Fry's the other day and picked up one of the freebie software packages called Driver Genius. It looked interesting and I think I even did a little research on it to see how it was rated.

Anyway, it insisted on upgrading both the Intel and the AMD drivers. It gave up on the Intel driver with a note about OEM versions and such.

However, it actually went ahead and did the AMD version.

    I'm currently sitting with:

    Driver Packaging Version 8.92-111109a-129968C-ATI
    Catalyst Version 11.12
    Provider Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
    2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1215
    2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
    Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0879
    OpenGL Version 6.14.10.11318
    Catalyst Control Center Version 2011.1109.2212.39826

Device Manager is showing me driver version 8.920.0.0 dated 11/09/2011.

The update didn't even mess with my rotation settings!

The use of the PMD is referred to in the CCC as AMD's "XGP" technology.

I tried to install the 11.12ccc drivers to get more fps on battlefield 3. But as you would expect it didnt work. Has anyone tweaked his device to achieve like 30-40 fps on 800*600 at bf3?

The big news for me is that the driver can be updated with a "standard version." I didn't think you could do it without using a Sony release.

I´m trying to uninstall the ATI Catalyst Install Manager before installing the new driver, as Sir Robin said, but I don´t know how. If I go to the Control Panel there is no uninstall option, only change or repair. Do I have to uninstall the ATI driver or the Catalyst Control Center too? Does anybody know please?

I tried rmcx' method and it showed errors during installation but probably worked. (driver genius). Unfortunately the CCC doesnt open anymore ( any ideas? ). The dxdiag tool shows version 8.920.0.0 so i guess its working.

@Lidenbrock: I didn't uninstall anything before I did the install.

@otulp88: I didn't see any errors in the UI while installing, but I didn't check any logs either. The CCC was updated nicely for me and works just fine right now.

@rmcx: did you install the intel hd graphics driver with driver genius too?

edit2: Forgot to say. I got a clean installation of everything here. Maybe theres something corrupt so that CCC isnt working. Is the CCC fully featured on this one? I want to have black borders at the sides while playing in 4:3 resolution but I cant find anything in the 'dumbed down' CCC...

    @miki69: worked thx!

ps: WEI shows 6,8 both at graphics and gaming (with PMD ofc)

It started the install, but the install refused to proceed because of the OEM issues.

BTW, I did all of this as an upgrade to the package documented in this thread, not the original Sony drivers.

And I have two questions for you:

    1) What is the reference to @miki69?

    2) Those are high WEI numbers. Are you using the multiple monitors option for the PMD?

    1) just the FN Buttons issue

    2) I think your pointing at that one settings thats in the CCC for optimization of the PMD right? So, still cant open the CCC... Is there another way? Look at this screenshot for my setup: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7594845/setup.png

e: I am actually using the weakest possible z2 with i5 2,3ghz and 4gigs of RAM.

I just tested Battlefield 3 with the new drivers and I got to say that theres a significant increase in performance. I cant back it up with numbers though.

Update2: I'm fairly sure the driver makes the game a looooot faster!! Problem is: its unstable and crashes from time to time! Can someone confirm this?

I´m hoping for a newer driver release of the modding community! I´ve informed my sony contact again after the feedback but i don´t think the will release a newer version.

The performance is much better with this newer driver but not perfect at all.

Wouldn't blame it on the Z2. BF3 has been wonky since the last patch as reports of constant CTD occurs across all ranges of video cards and systems. My desktop has been having quite a bit of issues and especially annoying in clan matches.

I ran the Leshcat driver package and did what appears to be a successful upgrade. (I ran the update over the package I referenced earlier via Driver Genius).

I'm now sitting with the 11.12/8.920 AMD version and the 8.15.10.2559 Intel version.

    WEI scores are unchanged.

The only con I've noticed so far is that the Intel control panel is no longer available via a right-click on the desktop. A newer version, however, is still available via the Start menu.

So I jumped on the train, downloaded both 11.12 and 12.1, but installed just the 11.12 and it works :) I'am not sure, if Intel display settings dissappeared from context menu -in regards, I don't know if it was there, but it can be accesed thru the disspley resolution settings.

Fn keys for brightness works, even the auto dimming works ok :)

report from the installer : http://maeth.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Report.zip'

I installed with PMD connected as upgrade over the driver package provided by SirRobin. Installed with everything ticked, includin ATI HDMI driver and IntelMEdia dditions - but I'm not sure, what the Intel pard does.
