Hi, I got a Sony VGN- FW11E laptop the one with p8400 processor. Recently I updated bios to R0270Y0 from R0250Y0 in order to enable virtualisation since then my cpu runs to 100% of its speed 2.26mhz. I used different power profiles but the speed is stuck to 2.26mhz. I used different programmes to monitor the cpu speed however the results were the same. Also the fan runs longer now.
Does anyone have the R0250Y0 bios?
    Anyone with the same problem?

I have FW190 (US Version of your FW11E) with upgraded R0270Y0 BIOS and I don't have the problem with downclocking the CPU.

Do you have installed the new bios to your laptop?

You are right. Did you notice any difference in your laptop fan since you upgraded your bios?
Is there a way that I can go back to my old bios?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I didn't notice any difference at all except a new option to enable or disable Virtualization in the BIOS.

Which program do you use to monitor the CPU speed? Don't rely on Vista or 7. Use CPU-Z, it can monitor the speed in real time.

I don't know how you can go back to the old BIOS. Sony never upload the original BIOS to their site, only new one.

My result: 1596 mhz in cpu-z idle, its ok. However I feel that the fan runs longer since I upgraded the bios.

Oh, I thought you said the CPU is locked to 2.26 GHz. I didn't notice any difference with the fan but I usually lock the CPU to run at full speed on purpose.
