Hi there,
Some of you may have seen my thread relating to a Z21 with a faulty screen I purchased, after some thought I bit the bullet and bought a fully working VGN-Z51WG second hand and i'm having a few issues:
- First off it has a fresh copy of Win7 64Bit and it looks like some of the drivers havent been installed properly. In device manager it doesn look like its picked up the Nvidia card as it has 'standard VGA adaptor' with a nice warning triangle on it. I've tried installing the OEM drivers found on the sony website but i get 'this PC does not meet minimum specification standards' when attempting to install the intel and 'the installation has not been complete' for the nvidia driver, there also appears to be 'base system device' in other devices?
- Secondly (which may be a driver too?) the stamina/speed switch does nothing and the led isnt on, also the CD eject / S1 / S2 buttons dont respond
- Next when i tilt the laptop (gently i may add!) it sounds like the harddrive crashes? but there is no affect to the system (no crashing etc..) is this a normal trait?? at work I hear similar noises from dying hardrives which stall and usually crash the system at the same time
- Also I installed some OEM sony software and updated Windows and I now recieve this constant notification 'your battery may not be compatible, please press ok to enter hibernation and remove/replace battery'. I've only had the laptop an hour so it may not be related but i'm hoping someone will say its a known issue? I've rolled back to a system restore and touch wood the problem hasnt returned
- The right speaker is very distorted, it sounds blown if i'm honest and crackles horribly, is this common? is it an easy fix
- Lastly what Sony software do I require? I assume i need some sort of Vaio updater software (for latest drivers?) anything else?

There are many things that I don't know which one to start with. Almost of your issues are related to drivers.
You can go to: http://www.vaio-link.com/ to get all drivers to your Z51WG. Except for the speaker, it's the hardware's issue. You need to replace it.
New member - please help Z51WG
