I spent almost a whole week researching and deciding which laptop to get for college. I've never owned a laptop before so I still have a rudimental understanding of their qualities, but I had narrowed it down to a Sony Vaio FZ. However, I heard that the new Intel Montevina platform will be release in early June, and that the new Sony laptop line-ups would follow suit. I am just wondering if anyone knows the exact, or rough release date for the new models, so I could decide on whether or not I should I still pull the trigger on the current FZ.

you should check this site to see if an expensive Montevina will be worth it.

also , check their benchmark result on page 3..........
I am pretty disappointed with the test result as I thought the X4500 would beat the NV84GS hands down but i was wrong(still long way to go to get close to any of discreet graphics). Also, it will be significantly mroe expensive than a high end Santarosa , so for me , it is easy , I will pick up a bargain priced high-end Santa Rosa.
hope this helps.
Edit: the FZ will be replaced according to a small local Jpanese news paper but I dont know if I can trust the paper I read, it basically saying the FZ will be replaced with a new seris called FX or something with 16.4 LCD like the one in the Acer 6920G..........it would be nice for watching DVDs and like that but not good for working with MSword or like that.
we will know it soon , I think as usual, it will be announced in June if Sony will really replace it with the FX or whatever called model.
