I've been browsing through the current Sonystyle lineup on the website and there are a couple of things I'd like to ask the community.

I'm comparing the build quality to MacbookPros, and as such am looking for something that is well built, styled, and powerful for its form factor. It seems to me that the TT, Z, SR are the "pro" models, correct, with better build quality, magnesium alloy an carbon fiber?

Do any of the chiclet keyboard models have backlit keys? It is never specifically stated on the models I've looked at, or perhaps I missed it?

Are any of the displays RGB LED backlit?

Is there a chance that the Z will get an upgrade in terms of graphics, or the SR will offer a dedicated Nvidia chip instead of ATI?

I want to buy a powerful laptop that is also built well for its form factor, and it seems that Sony has this in common, as opposed to building heavy plastic crap. Is there anything else I should know about these overall?

I'm somewhat leaning towards the Z and SR because of the dedicated graphics and "pro" build quality. Thanks.

To my knowledge none of the current Sony Vaios have backlit keys.

I can't say anything about the RGB LED thing nor the possible graphic upgrades to the Z but I would wager that the SR will stick with the Ati cards. It's a new model range, sure, but as it is the "next gen" Vaios are coming within a few months (estimation, probably along the lines of six months and up) and I highly doubt Sony would start suddenly changing their current model lineup so drastically (not drastical techonology wise but rather in the business sense).

As for the SR series itself, I say it's very good. You generally get quite a lot of bang for your buck, both in terms of build quality and also hardware. You can see my first impressions here. There's also other impressions in the thread.

I can't speak for the others but the Z's build quality is pretty high. The screen is led lit and is ing gorgeous. The only reason I see to go with the SR is price and better GPU, otherwise the Z is better in most regards (battery life, weigh, size). Also, now that I have it, I can't imagine having a notebook with a smaller res then the Z.

That sounds more like they're gonna release a new model with a touchscreen, probably a tablet or convertible tablet. I doub't they're gonna tack on touchscreens to normal form factor laptops.
