    Hi,

after trying unsuccessfully for hours getting a clean XP install on my SZ using the drivers and apps from the sony website, I did a full recovery using the recovery partition. I played around a little during the installation process, and here is what I found out:

You can get rid of the crap apps that usually come along with a recovery install by simply using the windows task manager and a quick finger!

Just have the task manager open (ctrl-alt-del) during the last part of the install process when the apps are installed, and sort the task list by CPU usage. The Sony recovery tool always shows which app it is currently going to be installed. As soon as a new app install is initiated, there is a new *.exe task popping up in the task manager (easy to identify by its capital letters). Once that happens, you have a couple of seconds to kill that task by using the "end task" function.

The recovery tool does not have any problems with this and skips to the next app installation process. You have full control over which app is installed.

By using this method, I was able to get a full installation including all the necessary Sony drivers and tools, but without all that crap software such as Norton or Roxio. Just remember that you only have ca. 3 seconds to kill each installation process.

    Best,
