I've been shopping for a 15" or smaller laptop for a while. Looking at Asus, Macs, and lately Dells. From reading the forums here I've come to the conclusion that Dells are pretty good deals, but I went to a Dell kiosk at the mail and took a look at the Inspriron 1520 and it is just too bulky for a 15" laptop. Even though you can get quite a lot of computer for around a thousand dollars after their ubiquitous coupons I can't see carrying that thing around.
Sony's look good for sure, but going to the sonystyle web site I can't find a 15" with an 8600M graphics card. The most powerful one is an 8400M. Is that true or am I missing something?

The Asus F8SV might be for you if you would be happy with a 14".

There are a few Sony Vaio FZ2xxx with a 256Mb GDDR3 8600GS, the model nr differs for different parts of the world. It performs almost the same as a 8600GT with DDR2 and it can be overclocked easily, maybe that one is an option for you. As far as i know the 8600GS is only available on FZ models with a blu-ray drive though.

Hmmm, when I go to Sonystyle and config a FZ290 I do not see an 8600M GT available. I do see an "8400M GT".
