    Hi Everyone,

Im wondering if anyone has experienced this issue with a FW Series (VGN-FW270J) Laptop. The sound on the machine is no longer working. I have reinstalled the Realtek HD Audio drivers provided by Sony with no luck. The system is currently running Vista Home Premium x64. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nina, this may or may not help you as i have a different model Vaio which is an AR series one, i also used to lose sound and it seemed to be after an update.

    Go to start/control panel/sound

Once you have clicked on sound make sure the green tick is on speakers/headphones option in the playback tab, if its not then highlight that and click apply. It seemed mine used to change to the top one which is Realtek Digital Output (optical) after a certain type of update it seemed. It may not be the cause of your problem but its worth a shot.

Oddly, I did a full Recovery and it still didn't work so I closed the lid and came back today morning and it works.
