I have a VGN-SZ340P running XP SP2. I let the XP manage my network connections and I always saw the wireless tray icon on the task bar, indicating the status.

However, the wireless network tray icon disappeared several days ago. Also, the LAN network icon is gone. "Show icon in the notification area" is checked for both connections. Any idea what's happening? Thanks.

under XP, open network connections. And right click your wireless card, then select Properties. Check the box "show icon in notification area when connected."

The box was checked when the icon was missing. I just uninstalled the LAN card driver by SONY and installed the OEM driver from Intel. Now, the icon is back.
