I just got my FS500 the other day, love it! But I picked up some speakers only to get back and realize it has no speaker output, JUST headphones.
Can I use this? Will it sound good? I don't want to open the box and test it out if I'm only going to return them (15% restocking fee)
I sure don't want to pay $200 bucks for a port replicator that I don't really need other than for some speakers.
Do they make good USB speakers?
THANKS

Headphone socket is the audio output on the laptop! if you want to plug it into a HiFi then you'll need an adaptor or specific cable.
The laptop does not have Digital audio output, I think maybe only Apple has that, but I'm not sure. I dont know much about USB speakers but again Apple use to sell them but they only worked on specific Macs.
Take your speakers into a store, ask if you can plug them in and hear the sound?
Apparently the new Sonoma is supposed to have better Intel sound or something. -
The problem is not as much in connector type (that can be easily solved by an adaptor) as is in amplified versus unamplified output. "Hi-fi" components should be fine, but I don't know about ordinary computer speakers.
No audio ought on my FS500....Can I
