    Hello .

" Sorry for my low english level ,, but I'll try to share my idea with you guys ;) "

Since 2 months many users reported troubles with their Sony Vaio Z series and SR also it was about battery drain while it's shutted down .. as reported it was 6-10% per 12 hours.

And still there is no official accounted or any reply from Sony only some noobish engineers who only know how to format and installing some applications.

It's very important for me to make sure I'm getting what I paid for .. we didn't pay this 3000 $ " specially me " to find my notebook dead after 1 week without using

Sony is very huge company imagine how much millions they get .. it wouldn't harm their business if they waste maybe 1000$ to find the problem !

So guys what is your thoughts :) ?

Personally i find replies like yours PhilFlow completely unhelpful. Yes that IS a solution.. but is it really acceptable.

To you it might be unhelpful I understand.

To anyone that isn't aware that taking out the battery is a solution it may be very helpful.

And since the OP said he left his Z for a week with the battery in it, I couldn't assume he was aware of the one and only solution.

Isn't sony's official stance on the matter that it's a "feature" and not a "problem"?

Regardless... Is there any Z owner who DOESN'T use their laptop everyday, and has to recharge it usually anyways?

So I have to take off the battery every time I turn it off ???

geez I have paid $ 3k to takeoff my battery from my premuim high-end notebook everytime I finish my class ?

No one can argue there is hardware problem .. power consumage while the notebook is turned off isn't good for the state of battery .. it will truly increase the times of charge so simple

more charge = less battery life.

And what would happen if I took off the battery and lost it :( .. or forgot ?? :'(

Why would you leave your laptop in standby/hibernate unplugged for a whole week; it seems unlikely that someone would do that. There is a slight drain during standby, and it sucks, but it's not going to inhibit your productivity that much, right? Couple hours -> lose 5% -> that's like, what, 15min of battery life? I don't like it either, but hasn't given me a problem yet.

i spent some time with Sony on this issue. I have a Z610Y. 2 months old. same battery drain problem. in 3 days, my batter will go to 0 even though the system is completely shut down. I use my laptop for travel (I have a company desktop at my office), and nothing more annoying than getting on a flight expecting to do some work and finding no battery life left. one tech admitted to me there is a problem. he said i should first download a new driver. Then he had me run on bios for 20 mins. he said if I drain down below 95%, there is a problem. my battery went to 78%. Called back, and the next tech said "that's normal". When I said if I extrapolate that, it makes battery life, like, less than 1 1/2 hours!!! That is dishonest advertising if that is normal. I finally got to level 2 support and they still disagreed there was a problem, but said i can send my pc to them, they will send a box. I'm just hoping this isn't a problem with the z-series, and it can be fixed. Very frustrated wth Sony right now
