I am stumped and need a hand.

I replaced a fan on my Vaio VGN-SZ320. Everything works normal except for the sound. THe internal speakers do not work however the headphone jack does.

I have replaced the following : both speakers, the ANL-66 board, and the FPC-36 cable. No luck on anything.

    Any suggestions?

Does windows think you have working speakers... or when you unplug your headphones does it put a red x over the volume?

Had it with my girlfriend's SZ. Headphone jack was broken directing output only to headphones instead of passing through to the internal speakers. You might look up some schemes to know what's going on. The solution was to use a needle to bend a little metal piece inside the jack from the rear to open the circuit allowing it to work properly.

Took me more than half a day eliminating possible causes one by one and searching for solution. Thanks to the needle there was no need for a new jack or (worse) jack board.
And there was an opportunity to learn, I've always wondered if I could amplify my internal speakers output with an external set :)

@thefranchise I am having the smae problem(see below), did you ever solve it?

After swapping out a broken fan for a sony vaio SZ-4MN, the internal speakers no longer work;however, sound still plays from the headphone jack. After reformating and reistalling all software to factory settings plus the requied realtek audio driver update, There was no change.

The following hardware was subsequently replaced with no change.
    -ANL-66 Board (button board)
    -CNX-348 Board (headphone jacks)
    -CNX-349 Board (USB)
    -ALL associated ribbon cables

What is going on?? The only thing left to replace is the MAIN board. Any ideas?
