    Hello, my first post here.

I have a SZ450N that came with Vista Business. I did an upgrade to Ultimate, and now I have no speakers or headphone output.
I try uninstalling and reinstalling thru device mgr. Everything looks ok, but when I run the cusor over the speaker icon it says no output device installed.

I chatted with a sony tech, and he said, sorry, our driver is not intended to work with Ultimate, go back to the Business version.

    Is he correct?

    HELP!

    Terry

Well I doubt he'd tell you that if it wasn't true because it doesn't exact support their cause... however, I find it very hard to believe that Sony does not support Vista Ultimate what-so-ever.

If it is true, I wonder if there's some third-party driver you could use... I'll look into it...

Sorry, I'm not of much use in this area...
    Matt

try uninstall the sigmatel driver first, and let the vista detect the driver itself, it won't be a sigmatel one but it works, i have same model as you have sz450n/c and clean installed ultimate version vista, the sound and everything works for me expect the screen always change it's resolution to 1024x768 from 1280x800 when I try to lock computer with the fingerprint software and login back to the desktop.

Thanks for the replies, but it is not working. :(

I deleted the driver, and let Vista replace it, and it replaced it with the same driver and says everything is working.

Windows update site did not find anything new.

I fixed it! I tried again, this time noticing a check box to delete the driver when uninstalling it. I did that, then it automatically found a different driver that works!

    Thanks guys!
