Hi, I'm about to buy an FE and I can't figure out if the Norton Internet Security that comes with it is a demo version or not. And if it isn't, and I were to buy the full version (cheaper if I buy it then), does anyone know if you can keep using the program after the 12 month subscription ends? or is it just that you can't get updates anymore? I've heard this program is good, but it seems a like a complete money spinner that they make you pay $70 every year to 'subscribe'. What do you think? Is this program worth it, or are there just as good shareware anti-virus/spyware programs out there?

    Thanks.

Norton is pretty bad and a system hog. Download zonealarm for your firewall, AVG for your antivirus, and ewido for anti-spyware. Best thing is they are all free , less of a system hog, and more powerful!

Norton product always turn me into nightmares.
After years of using Norton Anti-Virus, I finally quitted on them because:

    1. The *New* protection center is nothing but a advertisement center. Keeps on telling users to upgrade a product or service.

    2. Out of about 10 low-rated Viruses I encounter once a while. Norton never did solve one. NEVER, Ever. All it does is popping up "Virus Detected", then "Could Not Repair File", and it keeps on going and we can't shut it off.

    3. Not to mention all other useless services that came with norton. Disk Doctor basically conflicts with Windows Scan Disk. Crazy registry key entries makes it difficult to do a clean install.

Bottom line is, Go for AVG or AV. it's way better and NO CHARGE.

Thank you both for your feedback. I think I will save myself the $60.

A little postive feedback bettyblue.Ive used norton for 3 years and have never had a proublem and yes is does take some space up in the system yet very much worth the sacrafice. If you choose to actavate the 60 day demo it can be done from the norton home screen and get a 24 months of protection for 79.00.DO NOT DOWN LOAD AND USE NORTON SYSTEM WORKs.Your boot time will increase by 45 sec inturn driving you crazy
