After a fiasco of waiting and waiting and waiting for the Lenovo IdeaPad U330 ( http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/...01AA8:&smid=8EFAD587E2724C6D8A32A8D5048982CF), I'm intrigued by the ability of Sony to get a SR190 ( https://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wc...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665406960) shipped out monday.

Thoughts on how this machine compares to the U330? I've decided that switchable graphics will distract me from my work more than be a useful feature... beyond that one thing I can't see any other major draw back here. I have the $300 off coupon, which is quite nice.

    Thanks for your help

Specs-wise, the U330 will have a better graphics card than the SR190 currently available (the silver model doesn't allow you to choose the 3470 - you have to go for the more expensive model to get the discrete graphics), while the SR has the option to upgrade to a better CPU.

Other differences: U330 has glossy lid vs. SR's matte lid. I think the SR has a better screen, judging from the photos where the U330 seems more reflective.

I think you can't go wrong with SR right now, with 50% off some upgrade on 190CTO, price cut on pre-built SR1xx, and the $300 coupon. If you want a better graphics card, just go with 190CTO.

The U330 has 2 graphics cards: 1 discrete, 1 integrated. There's software so you can jump back and forth depending on whether you want to extend battery life or go high performance.

It's really a nice feature, but I don't do heavy gaming so I'm not sure it'll be an amazing feature for me. If it can run Team Fortress 2, I'm happy. :)

The U330 has ALOTTTTTT of problems (see Lenovo subforum)

Whereas the Sony SR is a tried and tested - "liked" model of Sony quality
