    Hi guys.

I recently lost everything on my Sony Vaio lap top model VGN cs16g/t due to corrupted files. I never made any recovery discs(let the shaming begin), and i really didn't know what to do, so i took my computer to have everything reinstalled. They reinstalled windows vista, but now i don't have the normal Sony Vaio functions my laptop used to have. Things like the Scroll on my touch pad don't work, the built in web cam doesn't work.. etc etc.
I have not yet been in contact with the Sony Vaio store here yet, as i thought i would rather get you opinion on what to do.
I know this IS a noob mistake, but any help would be greatly apprciated.

    thanks in advance.

Wow. You took it somewhere to get it restored, and you got it back without all that stuff working? Was it a professional service?

For your scrolling touchpad features, try the Synaptics drivers for your touchpad. Scrolling can be enabled in the settings in the Control Panel in the tabs of the "Mouse Settings". :)

Did you try F10 while the computer is booting - that will start the Sony Recovery process and restore it to out-of-the box state (unless you deleted that or the service wiped the partition).
Granted you'll lose what you just had the service install, but the functions will all work.

If the recover partition is intact (unlikely if those bruts had their hands on your computer) the F10 option should restore it to the way it was when Sony originally shipped it. If that doesn't work then you can download the drivers from the Sony web page (see Crus-T's link above) and just install them yourself. The guy that restored your computer should have done that so you may want to ask him to finish the job.

If you don't like doing any of that, that then you can purchase the restore cd's from Sony:

Usually Sony gets about $48 for them but I notice that for your model they are a little bit more: $70

Thanks for the input guys, i tried F10 but that didn't work, so I've just downloaded them from the link Crus-T provided. Most things seem to be in order now, but there are a few that i will get the sony store here to have a look at.

    thanks again.
