    Hi everyone,

I would like to purchase a notebook cooler for my sony vaio. I have been gaming awhile now and the temperature reach as high as 93 degree. I stump upon a forum before which discuss this but I couldnt find it anymore :)

I heard Zalman NC-1000 is appropriate for the air-flow.

    Sorry for the poor english.

    Thanks in advance.

thanks for your reply. But mine reaches too high because im gaming. I do not overclock it. Well, do you recommend any notebook cooler? I want to play safe for not being overheating.

i have other alternative but this one is only my idea, put it under 13 inch fan and it will stay cool forever

@sturmnacht, the heat is not from the center of the laptop it is from upper left of our notebook...
and i feels that it will obstruct the air flow instead of cooling it down...

    @bryan1988
try using the extended battery, it is the best solution...

I use the Thermaltake Massive23 ST cooler. It is quiet, USB-powered and just the right size when using the Vaio with the docking station.

Do you have any picture of it being used with the docking station? Do you put the docking station and the latop on top of the cooler ? And lastly, do you have any temps with the cooler on and off ? So many questions ... sorry about that.

    Thanks !

    Thanks for your response.

Guys, after reading some guide on notebook cooler i think the master cooler infinite runs well on the bottom of the vaio Z ventilation.

Just a quick question. where does Sony Z fan located?

Is it on the bottom left?

Just to confirm before i purchase a notebook cooler.

Yes, the air exhaust is on the left rear.
Which also means that almost all the coolers out there are unsuitable, because they pull air in from the sides. With those coolers you will suck in the hot air and deposit it into the machine again, and the air will be recycled indefinitely while getting hotter each cycle -- not a good solution for cooling anything.

I've had experience with this -- a colleague was bragging about how helpful his laptop cooler was. I saw the potential problem, and asked him what the temperatures were with and without the cooler. He said something like "oh, it's MUCH cooler now", but when we measured, found out that the inside temperature rose with the cooling pad in place. It was just his hands that got cooler.

Anyhow, low-tech solutions are often just as good. Like raising the laptop a millimetre or two, which increases the air flow around the case. Four rubber grommets should cost you about a buck.

Definitely agree with raising the laptop up a bit. In the even that you want a fancy schmancy cooler, I'm a big fan of the CoolerMaster Notepal series of coolers. The fans are moveable and can be placed directly under vents/hot spots. It's also super quiet.

Here you go. Sorry, but I haven't really compared temps with and without the cooler.

i can set my laptop power options to run at 80% processor speed when plugged in... this keeps the entire system cooler and doesn't affect my gameplay as the nvidia video card is doing most of the work

    try it and see!
