I am anticipating on buying a $3000 (3 year warranty) Sony notebook (not for gaming or multimedia, since I don't watch movies much nor do I game). I am currently a computer science major and I need a laptop high in performance. Since I will be caring it everywhere, I really need a very good notebook cover/case that has external protection (from drops and objects) and keeps my laptop warm (approx. room temp.) because I live in a somewhat cold climate. Anyone have any good recommendations for quality notebook covers or bags that are worth the price?

drop proof? bomb proof? is there such a thing that will completely protect it from dropping... probably not.

but if you want a really strong case that medics/firefighters and specialty electronic industry use... try pelican.

I use the Mountainsmith Explorer back pack with the Sony Vaio neoprene sleeve. The mountainsmith backpack has the notebook sleeve raised from the bottom of the backpack so that if the backup is set down on the floor very hard, the notebook doesn't hit. The neoprene sleeve adds a little extra protection, and makes everything fit nice and snug.

I bought my Moutainsmith explorer from ebags.com
