Lewis_ > Okay, Manoj.
Lewis_ > Manoj, could you please let me know if you have upgraded the Video Card of the Computer?
manoj > No i didnt upgraded. It Came with nvidia 8400gt
Lewis_ > Thanks for the information.
manoj > isnt it embedded in the motherboard of laptop
Lewis_ > Yes, Manoj.
Lewis_ > Manoj, it appears to be normal. As the temperature goes high while using high dfinition graphics.
Lewis_ > However, you can clean the air vents of the Computer to check if that reduces the temperature.
manoj > Ye, i cleaned air vents but it didnt helped. I just got scared because i heard there have been in news about nvidia faulty chips in 84 and 86 series.
manoj > So what temperature should i consider high while using high defination graphics.
Lewis_ > Manoj, I am sorry to inform you that the information you have requested is unpublished.

Re-read any of the nvidia threads. The problem isn't the high temperatures (though you don't want to overheat your card, of course). The problem is the heat cycle, where the computer goes to full load, then you stop playing the game, and it quickly cools down again. This is weakening the material in the GPU and causing it to fail faster than usual. The current solution to mitigate that is a BIOS fix that causes the fans to go on sooner so the temperature changes are more gradual, but it only delays the inevitable.
As far as Sonys are concerned, it seems that SZs have mostly been okay, likely due to the switchable graphics. A lot of FZs have failed, though.
