Hi guys,
I am running on a sony vaio SZ-750N laptop. Stock came with windows vista, but I upgraded to windows 7 ultimate awhile back. My graphics was fine for awhile, but then all of a sudden i booted one day and i was running on Intel mobile chipset 965 Family Graphics (integrated graphics from the mobo im assuming). I tried restoring the nvidia drivers but nothing detected any nvidia hardware on my computer, something I found that people had problems with as well. I ignored the issue, but then one day i booted my computer again, and i was now running on VGA graphics and aero was not working. My GPU diode runs very hot when on VGA graphics, and i had no idea why my integrated graphics wasnt working. After about a week or so, i restarted my computer and it booted with integrated graphics again....no clue how it fixed itself but it happened.
Well now it reverted back to VGA again and its been like this for two weeks. I have tried somee researching but all threads with similar problems to me have no solution. Upon disabling VGA and running on "vgasave", i checked display>advanced settings>resources and under conflicting list, it displays the following:
Input/Output Range 03B0 - 03BB used by:
Mobile Intel(R) PM965/GM965/GL960 Express PCI Express Root Port - 2A01
Input/Output Range 03C0 - 03DF used by:
Mobile Intel(R) PM965/GM965/GL960 Express PCI Express Root Port - 2A01
Memory Range 000A0000 - 000BFFFF used by:
Mobile Intel(R) PM965/GM965/GL960 Express PCI Express Root Port - 2A01
I have googled this problem and seems like other people with nvidia 8400m gs have the same problem when going from vista-> xp or vista -> 7, so it seems like a driver problem. I have tried reinstalling my chipset drivers, resetting BIOS, and havedisking the driver, but to no luck. I have also tried disabling the Mobile Intel 2A01 in device manager, but to no luck. Im hoping that my nvidia gfx card might be still alive(i previously thought it was a hardware malfunction) but as of now im totally lost as to what a solution is :\
Thanks for the help ^^
p.s. a similar thread with a problem very close to mine, except mine took it to the next level b/c intel graphics no longer works, and im running on VGA:
