Will the new Z refresh ever get GT430M? The desktop version of Nvidia 4xx has already been released. I think it won't be long for the mobile version to be released.
I am planning to get a new laptop around August or September but I don't mind waiting for a couple of months if I can get GT430M. However, if the GPU will never get an update, I think I'll buy the Z earlier since I don't think there will be much of an update before August. From what I see on the old Z, the GPU never got updated. However this time the GPU on Z is a little behind with no DirectX 11 support.
    What do you guys think?

nobody knows, this Z just came out...... The GPU on the old Z was further behind from the start than this Z. The 330M in this version is actually pretty damn good for a thin and light laptop. Like everyone has said a million times over, if your primary concern is GPU performance, the Z isn't for you. It was NOT built to be a name taking gaming laptop. Think of it as an added perk that the GPU it has is actually rather capable.

    I don't think it will.

Exactly. Also the current GPU will probably be hot enough already for a small 13".

This GPU is sufficient for gaming and with some minor overclocking it hits 3d marks close to that of the m11. I was just playing BC2 and RE5 both with very good frame rates.

nVidia is doing more in marketing than developing. Fermi is now still too hot to deliver decent performance in laptops. If Sony could use ATI 5000 series that would be great (cool and DX11).

I am surprised by the GT330M! Its pretty powerful, got to overclock it, actually if this had a hd5850 or 5750 something like it would run very very cool, for instance the the 5870 runs at 55-60C compared to the gt 330 under a load is at 80C+!! Fermi seems to be awesome but i agree a lot of burnt motherboards and frustrated people are going to here on the forums.

80-85c is fine under load. Especially since you are not gaming 24/7. I know for my desktop (and I know they are not the same), the ATI 4xxx series cards idle at 70-80c and are made to handle those temps no problem. Albeit they have massive coolers but I am not worried so long as the temps don't break the 100c mark. As I mentioned before my MBP temps were consistently 99c with flash and that was even after I applied AS5 to the heatsync. The MB burned out close to the three year mark, but 99c is a lot worse than 85c.
I'm not an expert but thats my .02.

PS Freedom: What was your highest stable OC. I was running 600/800 as suggested in another thread, have u taken it higher than that?

Actually, I'm not really into gaming. Maybe I will never use half the capability of the GPU. I like the Z because of It's design, weight, and material. However, since Nvidia has released a new card, I think I better wait for a couple of months if the GPU is going to be updated since I don't need the notebook right now. But hearing from you guys that the new Nvidia is hotter, I think the notebook will never get a GPU update so it's ok to buy the notebook now.
Sorry, 1 more out of topic question, is USB 3.0 worth the wait? From my experience, external HDD write/read speed is lower than what USB 2.0 capable of. I read that USB 2.0 is capable of about 60 MBps and my external HDD can only achieve about 23 MBps.
Thanks for your answer. Sorry for my bad english.

Actually, if you don't really need it right now I would advise you to wait. Unless there is some really good deal.

Sony has the tendency to update models several times a year. Chances are you will be getting a better CPU and/or harddrive for the same money you're paying now.

It can also be interesting to keep an eye on price comparison sites. Often etailers have better deals than Sony style.

nvidia actually hasn't released any Femi based mobile cards. Also, you can forget about Sony updating the Z's GPU. It's not going to happen until a full redesign based on their track history.

There's some speculation on a GTX 480M part here. Overall, though, I don't think there's much to look forward to from Fermi for mobile parts, given how power-hungry it is.

Alright so i got a score of 7,339 in 3dMark 06, overclock to 547, 800. Put been running some games here and there at 620/800/1355 or so. Pretty good frames but its hard to really get the frames you want and i am running the custom single drivers from laptop2videogo.com
