Just letting people know how bad this laptop with (and because) it's O.S. is working. I hope it helps others to decide before buying...
This is my story, I will just copy paste from my open case in Sony Support:

*** NOTES 20-Dec-2007 Action Type: Info
    1. Installed service pack: Vista Home Premium
    Still using service pack: yes
    2. Boot language: Spanish
    3. Detailed problem description: Main O.S. failure, system gets blocked, all the latest updates cannot be installed after downloading, etc...
    4. Checked for upgrades or patches: yes
    5. Additional SW: I use different programs, audio, video, image, cad, utilities, etc...
    6. Additional HW: All that is included in the laptop, sometimes I use external hard disk drives or usb.
    7. Extra memory added: no
    8. Additional remarks: The problem is intermittent, but happens very offenly. The computer gets completely blocked, I cannot even acces to the Task Manager and have to reboot manually. I think the problem has to do more with the Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer, but also happens with many others.
I WANT TO CHANGE MY O.S. AND ASK FOR WINDOWS XP DRIVERS FOR THIS AR-41S MODEL, OR GET PROVIDED WITH THE WINDOWS DOWNGRADE (FROM VISTA TO XP) PROGRAM.

*** NOTES 21-Dec-2007 Action Type: Info
    Dear Mr Vega Farinos,
    Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately your unit was designed to run on Vista. We currently do not have a drivers package for your unit to run on XP. These drivers may become available in the future but we currently have no time frame for any such release. If the drivers are released they will be uploaded to our web site at www.vaio-link.com.

    Regards
    Mark

I am not satisfied at all with this service. First you sell an expensive product that is nor capable of working properly, and you do not offer other solutions to this.
I am going to post this query in every forum and web than is concerned about this kind of situation. This way I hope other people avoid the risk of buying an expensive Sony laptop that would lead then so such a abandoned situation.

i very highly doubt sony actually has any control over what drivers oems release, unless these drivers you speak of are for sony hardware produced in-house, which seems unlikely for a laptop.

how do you even know downgrading to xp will fix the problem for sure? maybe you should provide sony with more details so they can better assist you.

The ODM/OEM (such as Sony) typically provides its own proprietary drivers for many of the devices they install and, in Sony's case, they are usually proprietary in the you-cannot-replace-this-with-someone-else's-driver way - just another way Sony thinks it's protecting it's "intellectual property."
