As long as the laptop is distributed in the same country you live and wish to use the warranty. i.e. a japanese SR won't be covered under US warranty even if it was sold in the USA , ect...

A rep or two lied to me. But i called today and another rep said she just had a similar call and double checked...

URGGH!!!! SONY YOU SUCK. I SUCK.

Okay on that note... are the SR129 EB USA only laptops or are they from other countries too? Which online unauthorized dealers can I trust to give me one from USA?

As long as the laptop is built in the same country? So these laptops are built all over the world?

SR129 EB is an american model. Just buy it at the cheapest etailer that gets good ratings.

I haven't seen a reseller with higher ratings than Newegg so I know where I would buy. But they don't offer return policy.

Just make sure you want to keep the laptop 100%. Sonystyle is the only one I know of that gives you 20 something days to return if not satisfied.

Yep other retailer charge restocking fees. I guess that's where so of the price difference comes from.

Phil there should be like a sticky topic of FAQ about sony vaios in general, don't you think?

i.e. warranty issues, links to important documents (authorized reseller lists, warranty/returns, ect..), model by model tid bits, ect..

A general Sony F.A.Q. would be a good idea, if you want to make it :)

Then it will be linked to in the sticky 'useful sony threads'.

I told the sales guy at SonyStore that I wanted to see an FW with HiColor. He said that they can be ordered, but none are on display. So I said "What if I order one, then see the HiColor screen and realize I don't like it. Can I return it?" The answer: "Sure, but there's a 15% re-stocking fee."
