I was wondering if anyone with an SZ5 (Australian/Hong Kong)/SZ6 had this problem where Vista would occasionally make a hardware disconnect noise, followed immediately by a reconnect. I have noticed this even with no USB, LAN, Exresscard etc,. cards plugged in so I am thinking it is my laptop hardware? Anythoughts would be appreciated.

Yes!! I asked the same some weeks ago but no one responded to that...
I have a SZ650 and have the exact same thing happening...
My theory is that when the CPU uses one core and disables the other one the system interprets this as a device deconection...

I have an SZ791 and notice the same thing. I have watched the CPU level on each core and there is always some small amount of activity on both so I think the disconnect might be on some other device.

I haven't noticed any ill effects yet because of the disconnect but it would be nice to know what it is....

Its strange since it seems to be a SZ specific issue...
Oh and since we are between SZ owners, can some tell me if he is experiencing this problem :
everytime I watch a video on megavideo or such a flash based player (on fullscreen, I get that only on fullscreen) for some minutes, I loose the ability to click via the pointing device... The only solution to get it back is to wait an hour or so or to reboot...
Its annoying since I have to use the buttons, wich takes more time...

Yes, I regularly experience the same disconnect/reconnect on my SZ650 with XP. Really annoying and confounding! Periodic mouse pointer freeze up also using the touchpad. No freezes with a Logitech VX Nano mouse. Glad I got Sony in-home service plan. May need it soon.
