    Odd fan behavior on Vaio PCG 7F1L - any advice?

    We have a Vaio PCG 7F1L notebook, and the fan turns on an off very frequently. It will be off for around a minute, then turn on again for 10 seconds, then go off again. This repeats indefinitely as long as the computer is on. It's pretty annoying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    I had a Sony Vaio before and the same thing happened to me, this is nothing unusual, so there is probably no fix, It drove me crazy. Hope I helped

    It is normal for a fan to turn on and off when operating your laptop. It depends on your usage and the heat produced. Your fan automatically turns on when temps are high and turn off or slows when temps are lower.

    Thanks for the reply - I agree it's normal for the fan to go off an on with temperature - but compared to every other latptop I've ever seen, this fan is acting unusually, as it goes off and on extremely frequently. Eg, 30 seconds off, 15 seconds on, 30 seconds off, 15 seconds on...repeat indefinitely.
