    6GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM (8GB max.)
    640GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

Built-in MOTION EYE camera and Microphone with face-tracking technology
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M GPU with 1GB of dedicated Video RAM
    Blu-Ray Writer/Reader

    $1,589.99 VPCF12KFX/B - Sold on Sony's website
everything same as above but 500GB 7200 RPM harddrive and is Blu-Ray Reader

Oddly, I did a "customize" comparison on sony's website with the sam especifications as their 1589 model and customeized model came out to be $1,494.99 (but has no backlit keyboard)

    Thanks for your help.

If Your not planning to change the hard drive once purchased, then go for the 7200rpm drive - it just makes sense.

As for blueray - I went for it for being up to date so to speak - no chance of me using the recordable discs, just more comparable if I've got a movie to play.

If your going for the 740....why not go for the 840qm - future proof on the processor as much as you can :)
