Official Sony VAIO CS Series Thread

I just bought this new VAIO CS190EUQ
I didnt see any other threads for the cs series so i made this one...
Does anyone have this laptop?
let us know how it is because i didnt receive mine yet...

 

I like mine except for the annoying sound it makes as the fan speeds up and after it slows down.

maybe alot of the cr stuff applies to the cs....

i just got cs-115 and so far its performed flawlesly!!
im using it for home and office music and vid mostly
its doing everything i need without breaking a sweat

i thought id join over here and this to my collection of forums..lol
so pardon in advance if i ask rookie questions..this is my first sony

Just ordered mine today. the VGN-CS190JTQ. Sony customer support does suck. Tried to cancel a previous pre-built one because I found a total of $300.00 dollars off this model with about the same specs. they said it would take 4 hours to cancel at first, then later they said it would take 72 hours. So I said forget it because I thought the coupon deal would end that day. I told them after being on hold for almost 2 hours to cancel the cancel order and they said ok. wake up this morning and find out the order was canceled after all!

OK. So I try to order the VGN-CS190JTQ and the lady ( who none of them you can understand) give me the number to the wrong bank for my finacial info! This better be a good computer after all the headaches I've gone through with them.

Picked up mine yesterday. Loving it!!! Amazed I can play half life 2 and CS on this thing at 1280x800!!!

recieved mine 2 days ago. nice computer. Yes, the fan comes on occasionally but it sounds like a fan should. Not like it is coming apart like some of the threads say here. Not saying that isn't a problem, quality control is lacking theses days. Also surprised to see that it was built in the USA. The build seems fine. Seriously, I wonder about the people on message boards sometimes, the negative responses you get I wonder if they are not plants or just like to confuse people. I own a new vehicle by all the major reviewers say is on of the best cars built last year, but if you go to some of the message boards about this car and you think you were driving an Edsel. I am not saying be a fanboy of a product, but some of these responses seem out of place.

Mine is VGN-CS16GQ Jet Glossy Black color. Im in the Philippines. I bought this back in November 21, 2008. So far im not experiencing any issue regarding the FAN noise or other problems, except its normal operation is started to slow down since I bought. Booting time from power on up to showing of the side bar - it took roughly 2 minutes. Probably, because of the bloatwares loading all the services at boot-up.

I tried disabling some of the services that I dont use, defrag the C drive and run CCcleaner but still the boot up time is slow. Im already halfway the process of clean install post by mrhaboobi and manage to follow the instruction correctly..

So far I was able to extract the SONY.WIM (3.2GB) from the recovery partition. What I need to do now is to burn this file in DVD together with the imagex folders (imageX32 & imageX64). I have the recovery console copied on the external HD. I'll copy this back once the clean install is done.

This is all for now.. I'll post again for an update if my clean install is successful.. so wish me luck..

 

Wow, how come there aren't more posts in this thread ...? I guess the CS isn't a very popular choice.

I've no clue why, I've had mine since the 26th of December, and I can say nothing but good things about it. It's basically my dream notebook!

 

Im back..! The clean install is successful. My laptop boots in less than 2 minutes. The shutdown time is roughly around 5-10 secs. Thanks to mrhaboobi for the instructions how to clean install using Extracted Recovery Image.
