First I entered, picked up TX Series. It was so tiny and so light..Lighter then my 30gb ipod video...believe it or not. I kept using it because it was so d*** tiny, I wanted to put it in my jacket pocketand leave lol.
Then I went to the FE Series, picked it up, typed a little, checked its weight and felt pretty bulky considering the 15.4", and plus the battery wasnt in it. It was pluged into AC. It was also playing music, and the speakers were pretty decent. Keyboard and build quality looked great atleast for me. The keyboard was pretty big, nice to the fingers and the mousepad was good. I closed the lid to see if it looked sturdy and I must say impressive stuff.
I then turned out to find the SZ Series. And I was like wholy s*** that is small, but about 2x the size of the TX Series. But trust me TX series was tiny indeed. No music on the SZ so couldnt know anything about the speakers. The screen was pretty decent, and to me the keyboard felt great. I then tried the switching of video cards, ones Stamina and the other is Power (Or something). It said "With restart" or "Without Restart", I had to restart. Well what it does is that when you change to Stamina it goes into some sort of Enegry saving mode. I then started launching the usual programs, My computer, control panel, Internet Explorer and so forth to see the speed on the 1.83Ghz and yes its sweet. Its small and well looks good and very portable, mainly because its light. I couldnt check on the battery life of any of them as they were all plugged in and the AC couldnt be disconnected. The SZ series keyboard in my view (using HP atm) was awesome same as the FE, atleast for me. I could easily type and not mess up. Though the mousepad was weird as its so small and my current HP is so big. The Biometric Fingerprint reader made it even smaller, the keys are like 2 squares (one on each side) next to the biometric fingerprint reader. The build quality of SZ looks good, but it might not seem so as its so light.
The webcamera was pretty good for both FE and SZ as I tested it out. Fast and good quality.
Note: I could even type excellently on the TX series and it was so small (the keyboard and such small a screen) that it could fit in my pocket, so dont trust my view on the keyboard lol.
Well thats all I could test out for that time, as my movie was nearly started. After testing them all out, TX (was just for fun). I decided that if I do get a notebook which I should soon this month. It will be the SZ as I need portable and battery life for University but it could be FE as it has the another USB port, a bigger screen and S-Video.
Hope you all like this little talk, if you need to ask something go ahead.

Awesome aer0sense! Thanks for sharing your impressions. I'm still waiting to actually put my hands on an SZ to see how it stacks up with other Thin & Lights. How did the display strike you? Pretty crisp, well lit, etc.? Did you notice any noise or heat coming from the notebook?
-
Wait a minute.. you're telling me the SZs are already available in Toronto? Oh you bastard!
-
Yup they are available. Even though SonyStyle Canada says its only going to be available on the 20th of march...lies lol.
The FE had an awesome screen, clear, crisp and vivid. On the other hand the SZ screen was clear, crisp but not so much vivid..Maybe thats just me as the screen was so small...lol.
I dont know how it would be to watch DVD's etc on it....My only worry and plus it doesnt have S-Video. I forgot to look at the ports it had, I was to busy drooling at the size, screen and weight but no worries I know what they have through SonyStyle Canada and pictures
.
Im still suck on the fact that the TX was so small it could fit in my jacket pocket...No joke. It was so light that I could literally throw it up in the air to catch and I mean really high up. Looked like a $3000 toy heh. -
Well Im fairly sure the SZ has VGA out, you can buy a cable of ebay for under $5 that adapts from vga to s-video and RCA plugs. Im surprised you say the sony is heavy Its one of the lightest 15.4" laptops available.
-
It is bulky...I got no reason to lie lol. But maybe thats coz i was next to 200grams TX that was amazingly light and the SZ.
Thanks for the VGA to S-Video thing. -
thanks for those opinions aerosense, even though im sure u had fun tesing them all out
really helpful overall insight int othe new range of sony's....im dying to get my SZ more and more by the day! -
I wasnt calling you a liar
Just the FE is 6.17lbs most 15.4" are around 6.6

Caution on that VGA-to-SVideo thing. The passive cable (which is what you get for $5) requires that the video card in the computer supports TV out on one of those VGA pins and I have heard NOTHING that indicates that the SZ actually supports this.
Otherwise you need to buy an active converter, which are about $50. -
Meh for $5 its worth it, If it dosent work its only $5 if it does you just saved $45!
-
Lol yeah...
-
At what address in Toronto you saw these laptops?
-
Markville Mall
Ok so I was just at the Sony Store, TX, SZ, FE
