Omg, dudes i NEED TO HEAR SOME GOOD NEWS.
As i was making notes for my exam, i SPILLED SOME COFFEE ON MY SZ
To my understanding, we should leave it off for a few days, but i need acceess to the notes by FRIDAY! and its THURSDAY rigiht now. The latest i can wait is maybe 24hrs. WHAT SHOULD I DO GUYS? Whats your take?

IS MY SZ GOING TO BE ABLE TO RECOVER? The odd part is that when it happened, the screen flickered but remained on, yet frozen. TOO BAD THERES NO SPILL PROTECTION LIKE THE G-SENSOR FOR IMPACT !!!!!

    FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Turn it off. Remove the battery. Flip up the screen and turn the laptop upside down. Let the parts dry for at least 24hours. If you can safely remove some compartments on the laptop do that too to see if coffee got everywhere inside the laptop. Good luck.

I dont wanna be the bearer of bad news but you may be **** out of luck...

Your best bet would be to open it up and dry it out yourself... although its not exactly water you spilled. Id say open her up and dry her out with a blow drier, ive done it with cell phones ive dropped in hot tubs and such.

Yea like shaun said, you might be SOL; coffee is more than just water than can evaporate. But you should definitely follow tims advice along with xirurgs.

Check your warranty. If you can open it!
I took apart my laptop just for fun (no guides :p) and its not too complicated.
A quick google search for "dissmantling vaio sz" should do the trick :)

Your first move should be removing your harddrive, putting it in a USB casing, getting your notes, and finishing your exam.

Then, you can worry about your laptop.

get a medium sized cardboard box, put your laptop in it, put it in sunlight for a few hours. The box will absorb any moisture in the laptop. If you use a lot of contiments (sugar, cream) that may end up being a problem. I had spilled water on the screen of my S360 once, about a third of the screen was white. No images at all. I did this and it was like it never happen.

My bro spilled a full cup of crystal light into his lenovo, went all the way down to mobo, computer shut down slowly. He left it to sit for a day thinking it was shot, came back, powered it on and everything worked like nothing happened. Hope the sonys are built this way. It was a lot of liquid...tipped it upside down and it just starting pouring out. After it dried tho, no problems until this day! I say you have hope if you let it fully dry!

Okay, as long as your computer doesn't get fried at the time the spill took place & assumingly, you did turn the laptop down right after. Keep the lid open as wide as possible, turn the laptop up side down AND IF YOU CAN, remove the keyboard, clean up a bit then roughly 20 hours later, you should be okay!!! don't listen to BS, many people just freak out for no reason when it come to spilling liquid on laptop.
