So what else is new. Driver support from Sony has always been pathetic. My VPCZ1 is not supported by Sony for upgradation to Windows 8, yet, thanks largely to this forum, I have happily used Windows 8, right up to the Windows 8.1 update 1 I'm currently running.

What concerns me is Windows licensing. If the upgrade to Windows 10 is not officially supported by Sony, will we lose out on the free licensed upgrade offer from Microsoft?

Also, how does one do a clean install of Windows 10 and still avail the free upgrade option?

As far as I dare to guess, upgrading will work just fine. The problem is only driver support where Sony will not provide versions compatible with the new OS.

That's their version of saying "if it doesn't work out of the box, don't ask us for help".

I haven't paid much attention to 10 yet but I guess it might accept older drivers like 8 and 7 did, all the way up from the XP era. Problems probably will cause special things like switching graphics and all the fancy extra buttons that need software support to work.

I would do a full system image on external drive before the upgrade.

Looks like we have some non-Japanese evidence of there being no drivers for Windows 10.

When searching the model number of my Windows 7 S13 on this new page, it gives the following:

(Note the bit 'we will not be providing Windows 10 drivers for your VAIO computer.')

Don't upgrade to Windows 10 if you are using ANY Sony VAIO computer - at least not until the autumn / fall season of 2015.

    Look here:
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/os10upgrade.pl?

those Sony Vaio machines that had Win8.1 pre-installed won't have Win10 compatible drivers until October 2015. and those machines that had Win8 pre-installed won't have Win10 compatible drivers until November 2015.
