This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    I just tried to play Avatar, and it told me to update my firmware...I went to the Sony website and downloaded the latest firmware version 1.78. My previous firmware was 1.74. I installed it and restarted and now my blue ray drive won't work at all...it's not showing up in the device manager, I can't push the button to open the drive, I have do it manually, and the orange light stays on all the time...it seemed like the firmware flash worked ok at the time, but now I'm afraid that it didn't any my drive is fried! Any suggestions?

    Bizarre, I just closed my computer, then reopened it, and all of a sudden it works! Insane!
