I ordered a Vaio EB CTO on 7/15/11, and ever since then it has been stuck on "Processing." Also, the estimated ship date is 8/18/11. I've searched online and from what I saw most people have an estimated shipping date about 3-5 days after they ordered it, even for CTOs. Why is mine more than a month away? Also, is there any reason for it to be stuck on "Processing?"

    Thanks guys!

Where are you ordering from? At least in the US, I know that we are now on the EG, EH, and EJ models now, which are refreshed As, Bs, and Cs, respectively. Perhaps the long turnaround time is due to it being an older model?

I ordered in the US, from California. I think I got the EB right before it was taken off the Sony Style site, because I can't seem to find the EB on the site anymore. There was a huge sale going on for the EB when I got it, where a lot of the "customizable upgrades" were going for free. I checked out the EH on the Sony Style website, and it seems to lack some of things that I got for free on my EB (1920x1080 screen, for instance), so I'm not too bothered by the fact that I missed a newer model.

Do you really think the fact that it is an older model might make the building time longer? Because when I got it 3 days ago it was still on the Sony Style site, so they must have at least had some still left over.

It's really hard to say, I'm not sure what exactly the building process is like on those. When you were configuring the model, was the estimated ship date displayed different than what it is now?

And I've noticed that Sony likes to update their page often on Sundays, so that probably explains the disappearance of the older E models.

Agh, I don't remember what the shipping date was when I was configuring it. The first time it really caught my eye was after I finished ordering and it took me to the "receipt" page. That's where I first saw the 8/18 date.

Just looked at the newer E series laptops again, and I realized they have that hexagonal pattern thing on the lid and palmrest, which I really don't like. Does anyone prefer that hexagonal pattern? I find it to be needlessly distracting and takes away from the lines of the computer, imo.

hmm my GF got her EB for $800 (1080p, i5, + that dedicated card... i forgot which) about a month ago. I can find out exactly how long it took her, but considering how Sony just put up the new E series... i dunno, they could cancel on your (that'd suck) so i'd call in. If they do cancel on you, demand a "comparable" one for the same price :p. sony reps won't know the difference between Arrandale i5 and Sandy Bridge i5 :p or GPUs for that matter.

edit: i wonder if the new E-series have backlit keyboards... if the EB wasn't so cheap, i'd have her get the C series with backlit keybaord, but since she's not really looking for "portable" and "on the go" i didn't really care for switchable graphics

edit2: oh god, i just looked at the EH page... 15.5" and NO option for 1080p WTH??? also, 410M... which is weaker than the card in the EB (was it a 5650? I forget). If they do cancel on you, call Sony and demand a CB. In any case, my Gf's EB took a week to build, but i guess that was before they retooled the factory for EH orders or soemthing

Yeah, 1920x1080, i5, and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (1 GB VRAM).

And yeah, I looked at the EH page last night and wasn't very impressed. A lot of the options were weaker/downgrades from the options that I got for free when I customized my EB. I'm really hoping they won't cancel on me. I'm okay with waiting a month if I get exactly what I ordered, but if it gets canceled then that would be troublesome. :/

What was Sony's entry-level Vaio last year? Since the E is now, I guess they brought the specs down for the pricing and to help differentiate it from the C series.

I agree, though, the new design on the EG/H/J doesn't sit well with me. I bought my mother an EB for Christmas and think it kept the design/lines simple yet still good-looking.

their entry level was the E series again last year, but yeah, since they intro-ed the C series (again) they pushed the E-series even lower
