Ordered an FE

I just ordered an FE through sony. For those FE owners out there, I was just wondering what I should expect when i get it . The bads, but mostly the goods

Dont worry you wont get it for a few months I placed my order on the 22nd and it still says out of stock

they said it's under assembly...
(it seemed like they were lying but..)

I was exagerating I just meant that they have a record stuffing people around, the batch before me were on order from mid january they had them for a week then they were out of stock again, I rang them on the 28th and they told me it was being assembled.... Sony is full of crap.

 

presicly why sony lost its sale to me....im going acer, because its a good comp and i can walk to the store and pick it up...

 

I'd be careful of the Acer - the 8204 had a ridiculous number of returns last month. It's kind of over-priced, too.

Regardless, I ordered my FE on the 23rd and it was delivered on Friday. No complaints here. (Of course, you'll always hear the complaints in the forums, but rarely the praise)

i think he did, because mine is gonna take atleast a week and a half before they ship it.

 

I ordered a customized FE on the 1st of March, all components were in stock and a work order was placed for it the next day (although the online order status information didn't update for another two days).

 

im geting the 5672 , and im buying it from the store, not ordering it...if i end up having to return it, at least there is a sales rep who's neck i can put my hands around should anything go wrong

 

Nope, customized, with the web cam even.

Sadly, I cannot even get to mine for the next few weeks until this term of college ends... Ah well. I thought it'd take a lot longer to get to me - but construction was on time, and it only took 2 days for ground shipping (!!!). I guess I live close to the ship location.

Viridian, I am curious what options you ordered to get your turnaround so quick. I ordered my system on Feb. 28th and still have no idea of my status. I have talked to Sony reps 3 times and gotten the same answer 3 times... "Your parts were on backorder but they just came in... a build order should be sent in the next few days." In fact, today the rep tried to find my order in line and couldn't get anything, which is scary!
I've been going through the motions of ordering my same set-up on the Sony website and it says "Please allow 3-5 business days for production to complete."
Anyway, listed below is my configuration (I've only listed changes from default)... let's see if we find any conspicuous differences that could cause the delay:

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400
Intel Core Duo Processor T2500 (2 GHz)
DVD+R Double Layer /DVD+-RW Drive
VAIO Overseas Service

and that's it!... pretty simple I think... I've got after-market upgrades for the RAM and HD. Any help would be appreciated.

It was placed on the 22nd and still says out of stock.

 

Only thing I WAS going to point out was the processor difference... but matt busted that! So maybe the STANDARD BATTERY is a problem, heh!
Matt, I say you and I need to rock the boat. Were I in your situation waiting since the 22nd I would be raging at Sony. In fact, if I get no info by noon tomorrow I am going to harass them a bit. You should do the same and I encourage anyone else to do so as well. Maybe together we can at least get their attention... ridiculous.
I've even considered ordering a second computer and seeing which one gets here first!

 

ugh...sony is testing my patience now....
last week when I called them like twice....
the reps said my notebook was under assembly...
and today I called for another question...
and asked same question again...
the lady said
it's out of stock (the base unit is out of stock)
so... what the hell?

Hi a hour ago sony sent me a email saying it was shipped!. And I did email them and call them to ask them wtf was going on, they said if i wasnt happy i should cancel my order.

Its been shipped, I can't.

 

W-woah ... mine's shipped too! This morning, it was still only checked up to 'Scheduled for Production'. Now, everything's checked and shipped, and Fedex picked it up mid-afternoon. That's three days ahead of schedule, and 5 days from the time I submitted my order. My luck's taken me this far ... we can hope the unit won't develop any problems after arrival (*crosses fingers*).

 

Yea, Sony customer service totally sucks. That's their answer to everything. "If you are not happy, you can cancel yor order." Really? I didn't know this until now....

I think it is pretty arrogant if the very vendor who wants to sell you a notebook tells you that you can cancel your order if you are not happy. That's like saying, "Hey we don't give a sh.. about you. If you don't buy it, someone else will."

 

Yeah i'm not impressed with their customer service so far but I love sony products I have a sony mp3HD player, sound system, tv, vcr, dvd player, cd-r's, ps2 ect. So I deffinatly am a loyal customer and to be treated that way is really aweful.

 

I am glad you guys finally got yours shipped! But naturally I'm a little bummed for my own chances, we'll see what happens.
I haven't pushed them far enough yet for them to recommend I cancel my order, but tomorrow I shall try, hah!
Quick question matt... did they EVER say your computer was being built? Or did they just brush you off and annoy you until it magically shipped?

 

They brushed me off, this morning when I checked it said "out of stock" under item status and then i got a email this arvo saying "Shipped" there was no construction or assembly notice.

Well, I harrassed Sony again today and surprisingly they said a production order had been opened. Could've been to appease my demon, but maybe I will get some forward progress.
Thanks all of you guys for giving your input. It's nice to have some people to talk to who are in the same situation, like group therapy! I hope all of you get your toys soon and I will keep posting on this board until I get the thing and have to absorb myself in backing up the hard drive. I have a Hitachi 7200rpm waiting patiently to go in!

 

lol I have a extra gig of ram Im going to take out one of the 256 sticks.

 

Oh yeah... I have 2gb of Corsair RAM keeping the HD company.
And hey, I actually got an e-mail saying production began. And now my estimated ship date is... TODAY! Liars, they won't back that up... But I wouldn't mind being proved wrong.
