Hi there,
I'm considering on buying a Sony laptop within the next few months. I live in Canada, but the Sony's they have on sonystyle.ca aren't customizable. My main concern is getting at least 1gb of memory. I was thinking of ordering from sonystyle.com as there is the upgrade option.
Can anyone think of reasons this is a bad or good idea?
Thanks!

Sonystyle. com might not ship their laptop to Canada though..

if your concern is 1 gb just get however much you need from newegg

I guess I am iffy about opening a brand new laptop. Does it void the warrenty?

Many of Sonystyle.ca's models already have 1gb... but you have to tell us which model you're looking for. And no, Sonystyle.com will NOT ship to Canada.

Ok thanks for that. Now that I know sonystyle.com does not ship to Canada then that's out of the picture.
I was looking at the Sony FS and FJ, which only have 512mb. I might look into the SZ's now - just have to wait a few months and hope the prices drop a little! -
All of the FJ models I saw already had 1gb at ~$1900, the FS models do seem to need a boost. I wouldn't worry about upgrading; first I would not place reported Sony US warranty experiences on Sony Canada; and even if there might be an issue you can always just swap it back.
